A Look at Our Stylist’s Work for a Fashion Show

Euphora Salon & Medi Spa did most of the models’ hair for the Leonid Gurevich Fashion Show in NYC. It turned out gorgeous!

September 9, 2012 was one of the best fashion shows I have ever seen in my life. Well, it was the only one I saw live so that may have something to do with it. It took place at the Angel Orensanz Foundation in NYC–it is actually where Sarah Jessica Parker got married! While the DJ played Enigma songs, I looked at my surroundings and it simply felt surreal. The red church lighting, candles, the good looking guy playing the accordion, and wine ! Yes, Voga wine made an appearance and it was quite a tasty one 😉

While everyone waited impatiently for the show to start, I took the chance to mingle. I was never much of a networker, yet, this time everyone looked so classy that it was impossible not to come up and say, “Hi. My name is Kat. What do you do?” I got so many business cards at the event that my purse was busting at the seams! I got to try the featured fragrance of the night called Huntress by the 3D Sisters. Once people began finding out that we do exclusive events and parties at our venue, they became interested too. I’ve never gone through my business cards so quickly! So everyone benefited 🙂

After my mingling session, the hairstylist from our salon snuck me in to the dressing area downstairs where the models were. Never have I seen so many tall gorgeous women in one room. I always thought I had an average height being 5’5″…but standing next to them quickly changed my mind! As I stood there looking like an idiot with a wide open jaw, I saw the designer himself! I was standing 2 feet away from him watching him complete his masterpieces (i.e. models). Let me tell you, the work behind the scenes is super stressful. People are running around trying to find accessories, putting on make up, looking for shoes, zipping their dresses. Yet, when they come out they looked the most poised they’ve ever been. That solid look on their face stays there until the last second before they go back behind the curtain. At which point they can’t help but smile in pride of themselves and the happiness that they didn’t trip on the runway.

Although the show was about 20 minutes long, it left a huge impression on me and our photographer, who was running around trying to capture anything and everything.

What is your body telling you through ACNE?

Face Mapping is a common Chinese practice that involves looking at the problem areas on your skin to connect the dots when it comes to internal health. According to Alex Gariano over at U Look Haute, the face is like a mirror reflection of all the things happening inside the body because each organ is linked to a particular area of the face. Take a look to see what your body may be trying to tell you through your breakout areas:

Zone 1 & 3: Bladder & Digestive System — Improve your diet and drink more water.

Zone 2: Liver — Try cutting back on alcohol, heavy food or dairy. This area can also indicate a food allergy.

Zone 4 & 10: Kidneys — Make sure you’re keeping yourself hydrated with water and cut back on liquids that dehydrate you. This means nix the soda, coffee and/or alcohol.

Zone 5 & 9: Respiratory system — Those who smoke or have allergies tend to have acne here.

Zone 6 & 8: Kidneys — Dark circles are usually a result of dehydration. Drink up!

Zone 7: Heart — Check your blood pressure and make sure you’re not using makeup that irritates your skin.

Zone 12: Stomach — Consider a detox or adding more fiber to your diet to help with digestion.

Zone 11 & 13: Hormones — Stress and hormonal changes can sometimes be alleviated with more water and a few extra servings of dark, leafy greens but if breakouts in this area persistent, make an appointment with your doctor to look into a possible hormonal imbalance. Additionally, breakouts in this area also indicate when you are ovulating (and which side).

Zone 14: Illness — Can be a sign of your body fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Take a breather and drink plenty of fluids.

Shenanigans of Fashion’s Night Out NYC

Euphora Salon & Medi Spa went exploring around NYC for Fashion Week. And boy was it one heck of a fun-filled night. Lets start from the beginning….after doing numerous loop-arounds to find parking, myself and the photographer were finally a few blocks away from the party. Yes, it really was a party. There was a DJ in practically every store and champagne was being poured for the customers. Needless to say, I’m sure a lot of those stores got business due to bad drunken decisions on the shoppers’ part. Great marketing strategy. Really.

So you know how in NYC it takes a while to walk a block simply because you have the slower folks acting like NY is made for late summer promenades? Well, Fashion’s Night Out was 9 and a half times worse. It felt like being lined up for a fire drill in high school, where are the kids are so unmotivated to walk anywhere that it takes 10 minutes for everyone to get out of the building and then the teacher yells at them saying, “Had this been a real emergency, you would be dead by now!” Yea, it was like that. It felt like NYC traffic jams, except with human beings…drunk human beings.

Anyhoo…each store we walked into had some sort of event, giveaway, contest, celebrity, fashion show, etc. One particular store had 2 lovely drag queens. I guess it does take balls to be a drag queen. But these ladies, I mean men…or do I?, did their runway strut like they were on America’s Next Top Model.

Next, we decided to shower shoppers with 20% off coupons for Euphora Salon & Medi Spa. The girls were super excited and we, naturally, were there to capture their happiness. Here’s some of it:

One of these girls in particular (I won’t give away which) wound up crying once I asked them if any of them are getting married soon. Her engagement had recently broken off. Damn, talk about bad timing. I, however, took matters in my own hands and promised her that a break-up only means that you’re creating more space in your life for a new man. New man=possible husband=engagement=bridal shower=bachelorette party=strippers. You get the equation. Obviously, upon hearing the words exclusive bachelorette party and male stripper in one sentence her tears were gone with the wind (as you see she is sporting a happy face in the picture above).

Alright, that’s enough happy pictures for now.

Basically, our goal for Fashion’s Night Out was to let the lovely ladies of NY/NJ know that we hold exclusive private parties in our venue that can fit up to 250 people. I must say, it went well. I think what really got them is that they can bring the strippers though. I mean yea, they were psyched about the pool, jacuzzi, and bar that we have but the mental image of a naked man dancing 2 inches away from their face just really blocked that all out. Oh well 🙂

Oh, I almost forgot. Besides the ridiculous amount of shenanigans during Fashion’s Night Out, there was one thing that really stood out from the rest (no, I’m not referencing the drag queens again). The Empire State Building was glowing a gorgeous color of red throughout the entire night. Feast your eyes my friends:

Forget everything you have been taught about dating!

Click here for the 12 Dating Tips to Forget

From the book called ‘The Rules” to the movie “He’s Just Not That Into You”, our brains have been filling up with lots of facts about the dating world and how to survive in it. Some rules made sense, and others simply went against our natural instincts. If you think back to how people used to live when technology was not as advanced, it seems that love was much simpler. They had no rules. They didn’t have a dating bible. They simply went off of their feelings and natural instincts (or urges, if you please). People appeared to be genuinely happier and had healthier relationships that weren’t sabotaged by unnecessary media input. Since cell phones did not exist, I am almost positive that the guy didn’t wait 72 hours to come knock on a girl’s door that he had been out with 3 days prior. So what makes it ok today? This article helps to break the dating chains we have been wearing for so long and gives us a more realistic perspective of blossoming relationships. There is certainly something to learn from it.

Kim Kardashian spends how much on her weekly beauty routine?!

The answer is…more than a lot of people earn per month. I guess when you’re that rich and famous (for no reason) then you can afford to splurge….A LOT. Miss High Maintenance spends over $3,000 each week on her beauty regimen to make herself look “fabulous” as Carrie Bradshaw would call it. Lets take a look:

  • UMO 24-karat facial ($300)
  • 2 glycollic peels ($500)
  • Mud wrap and body scrub at a spa ($235)
  • Laser treatments (monthly $800)
  • VelaShape to get rid of cellulite (monthly $3,000)
  • Regular manicures & pedicures ($150)

Donations to Charity…… in the form of getting rid of over 100 pairs of shoes and clothes and donating them. Thanks for your generosity Kim 😉
